“Open New Tab” button (SeaMonkey)

Show “New Tab” in SeaMonkey

SeaMonkey Browser (by Mozilla) seems to be the rarest occasion, where inside browser, you don’t have an ability to open a new tab. You might say-  “click CTRL+T“, but that is not comfortable due to 2 reasons:

  • Many Many Many people don’t know keyboard shortcuts for default actions
  • This means, you cant browse internet with only mouse (and thus, you need to be binded with both hands to PC, while you only try to just browse internet)
  • You have to waste additional 1-2 seconds (yes, you can count that by average), looking down on keyboard, trying to not to mistakenly click other keys on keyboards, and correctly choose the keys. And additional 1-2 seconds, is not small amount while calculating that for days and months..

Well, I am really surprised SeaMonkey didnt support Open New Tab button natively, however after some research and spent time, I’ve found that the problem was that the browser (by default) has auto-hide enabled for TABs bar. To show TABs bar permanently:

Step 1

you should change that in settings-  open address about:config in your browser’s address bar, search for phrase tab and set browser.tabs.autoHide to false

That’s all, from now you will see the TABs bar, and you can add new tab by clicking the special button there.

Step 2

you can use an addon, which adds New Tab ability to the browser.
