[SOLUTION] Bios disk read error at sector 00000011

Solution to Bios disk read error

Many people meet this problem. And many of them recommend each other to install OLD versions of VirtualBox (like v4.3).  I dont know if it can be called a “solution”, however, most of users probably dont want to use old version (I have written an article where I summarised how to install two-versions of VirtualBox in your computer, but I suppose that method is no longer needed with latest VBox versions, and thus, there is no need to install old version. It’s better to SOLVE THIS ERROR ,  instead of uninstalling current VBox, installing old one and such troubles .

So, staying with your current VirtualBox, you have to do the simple thing to fix the problem (At least, in many cases it works. For example, this fix solved my problem when I tried to load MacOS in VBox).

So, choose your target image (or OS, whichever you have problems with), right click on it and choose SETTINGS/PROPERTIES , then go to System tab, and check the ENABLE EFI  checkbox  !

After that, try to start your Image again. Now, there are great chance that it will no longer show the Bios disk read error at sector 00000011  message again.

p.s. If unfortunately that doesn’t solve your issue, then you might try google, because error should be coming from other issue then I supposed.

Alternatives to VirtualBox

In case you cant do what you need (because, in general, Free programs doesn’t have a stronger support), then another strong alternative of VirtualBox is certainly VMware WorkStation (it has free trial). However, as it is very strong and complex program, it is a bit pricey too.
